As we all know, it’s the heavyweights that close out the competition typically, and in our case, the final day of the 2024 IWF Asian Championships didn’t disappoint with the men’s 109 kg and 109 kg+ categories unfolding.

In an intense competition till the very end, Man Asaad managed to clinch the gold medal for the men’s 109 kg+ category by just one kilogram, defeating Bahrain’s representative Gor Minasyan.

Asaad didn’t get off to the best start, only lifting 192 kg on the snatch, which was just one kilogram more than Ali Yusur, who finished in third place overall. However, after that, for his clean & jerk, he managed to get 252 kg for the gold medal for the lift and for the gold medal for the event.

Thanks to the fact that his C&J was ten kilograms more than that of second-placed Gor Minasyan, the representative of Syria managed to get the gold medal for his country.
