News Europe 2024 Olympic Weightlifting

Muhammed Furkan Ozbek won Silver in the Men’s 73 kg Category (2024 European Weightlifting Championships)

Day 4 of the European Championships was just as exciting as the previous ones, with the men’s 73 kg category dominating the competition day.

For team Turkey, this was quite a successful day, as they managed to get a couple of medals, the biggest one being Muhammed Furkan Ozbek’s silver.

The Turkish lifter didn’t get off to the best start, lifting 150 kg on the Snatch and ending in 5th place on the overall rankings, but thankfully, that all changed after the Clean & Jerk.

On that second movement, Ozbek failed on his first try of 180 kg and then on his second attempt at 184 kg; however, in the end, he lifted the impressive 186 kg on his final attempt, which resulted in the silver medal for the movement and the silver medal overall with a total of 336 kg.
