The European Champ is gaining momentum as heavyweight divisions are going to perform on the Day 8 and Day 9 of this major event in the weightlifting world. Today we’re going to know who will reign in the 87-kg weight category.

Norwegian Solfrid Fires Up the Podium with Unbelievable 280 kg Total Result

12 top-notch weightlifters of the 87-kg weight category were performing at the Day 8, with the most powerful ones firing up the podium. These are masterful athletes in the division who have already built their reputation in the weightlifting community:

New Straps V2 - WBCM

Solfrid Koanda, a Norwegian weightlifter who won the gold medal at the 2022 World Championships in Bogota. In 2021, she won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Tashkent. Also, she’s a two-time gold medalist at the European Championships.

Anastasiia Manievska, a Ukrainian weightlifter who won silver at the 2022 European Championships in Tirana finishing second behind Solfrid. She repeated the success of winning silver at the 2023 European Championships in Yerevan.

Hripsime Khurshudyan, an Armenian weightlifter who won bronze at the European Championships, also winning gold and silver at the same-level event.

Tatev Hakobyan, an Armenian weightlifter who won the silver medal at the 2023 European Championships in Yerevan and became Champion at the Qatar Cup in 2023.

Now let’s analyze the Top 3 lifters’ performance:

🥉KHURSHUDYAN Hripsime – 105 kg
🥈JENSEN Anne Sofie Vejsgaard – 107 kg
🥇KOANDA Solfrid Eila Amena – 120 kg

The third place was occupied by KHURSHUDYAN Hripsime from Armenia. She lifted 102 kg on the first attempt successfully, then opted for 105 kg on the second try, by failing to lift it, and her final attempt was the same 105 kg resulting in a good lift.

The silver medalist in the category was JENSEN Anne Sofie Vejsgaard from Denmark. She did 99 kg on the first try, then lifted 103 kg on the second attempt successfully. The third attempt was 107 kg which brought her silver.

The winner of this weight division was KOANDA Solfrid Eila Amena from Horway who lifted 114 kg on the first try, the second try was 118 kg that she didn’t manage to lift. The third attempt was of 120 kg resulting in a good lift.

On this contest day, 49 % of all attempts were successful which is a below-average rate compared to the European Championships in Yerevan which was 64%.

There were no bombed-out athletes in the exercise, however, half of the lifters had two unsuccessful lifts.

Clean & Jerk

The contest in the Clean & Jerk discipline started with a weight of 112 kg.

Top 3 leaders’ results

Let’s describe the performance of the Top 3 lifters:

🥉CAN Busra – 127 kg
🥈MANIEVSKA Anastasiia  – 128 kg
🥇KOANDA Solfrid Eila Amena – 160 kg

CAN Busra from Turkey became the bronze medalist in the category. She did 123 kg on the first attempt successfully, then ordered 4 kilos more, 127 kg, on the second try, but she failed to lift it, and her final attempt was the same 127 kg resulting in a good lift.

The silver medalist in the category was MANIEVSKA Anastasiia from Ukraine. She did 126 kg on the first try, then lifted 128 kg on the second attempt successfully, but she refused to perform the third attempt by clinching silver.

The winner of this weight division was KOANDA Solfrid Eila Amena from Horway who lifted 148 kg on the first try, the second try was 155 kg she managed to lift overhead. The third attempt was of mind-blowing 160 kg resulting in a good lift.

On this contest day, 58 % of all attempts were successful which is an above-average rate compared to the ratio at the European Championships in Yerevan which was 55%.

The total winner and European Champion became KOANDA Solfrid Eila Amena who lifted an extreme 280 kg.
