News Asia 2024 Olympic Weightlifting

Masanori Miyamoto won the Bronze Medal in the 73 kg Divison at the 2024 IWF Asian Championships

Another exciting day at the Asian Championships in Tashkent, as the men’s 73 kg category unfolded, and we got the final results. Team Japan, who have performed okay so far at the competition, got another bronze medal thanks to Masanori Miyamoto, who managed to deliver a terrific performance.

The Japanese lifter managed to lift a total of 335 kg, with 150 kg in the snatch and 185 kg in the Clean&Jerk event. Even though his overall result was much lower compared to that of the silver and gold medalists in the category, it was still good enough to get him the final spot on the podium and a bronze medal for Team Japan.

Prior to this competition, Miyamoto had won a gold medal at last year’s Asian Championships and a bronze medal at the 2020 Asian Championships. Along with that, he represented Japan in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in the men’s 73 kg event but failed to win a medal – something that he hopes will change this year in Paris.
