Armenian weightlifter, Hakobyan Tatev, has stunned fans and supporters by winning gold and bronze in the women’s 87 Kg category at the 2023 IWF Grand Prix II competition. She also rounded off her totals in third place, going home with 1 gold and 2 bronze medals at the end of the day.
The 27 years old secured each of her wins after fiercely infusing all her strength and determination into each lift against 8 other solid contenders. Claiming her space at the top 3 spot at both Snatch and Clean and Jerk, her total score undeniably set her with an impressive third place lead that reaffirmed her exceptional efforts.
During the snatch session, Tatev unleashed raw power, determination, and endurance and pushed her limits. Tatev delivered an impressive 107 kg lift, which was the highest amongst other competitors, that left spectators in awe. As a result, she bagged the gold medal in that session of the women’s 87 kg category.

She outshone the second place winner in Snatch, Khurshudyan Hripsime, by a 1 kg lead, and a 2 kg advantage over the third place winner, Rustamova Anamjan.
As the competition transitioned to Clean and Jerk, Tatev prepared to make her mark again in the second phase of the event and propel herself once again to secure gold. However, the competition intensified as Armenian Khurshudyan Hripsime and Turkmenistan Rustamova Anamjan also prepared to unleash their prowess and strength into their lifts, too.
Unfortunately, Tatev faced an intense competition with these formidable opponents, which eventually pushed her down to a hard-fought third place. At the end of the game, Tatev’s combined efforts in each lift landed her an overall third position, which landed her another well-deserved bronze medal.
