Dadash Dadashbayli Dominates the Top of the Podium at IWF Grand Prix II in Doha

Day 10 at the IWF Grand Prix II in Doha, Qatar was full of surprises and excitement, men of the 109 kg category came to Doha to show some of the strongest and skillful athletes, with them was Dadash Dadashbayly who managed to go back home with 2 gold medals.
The Azerbaijan athlete started his competitions with a 170 kg bar for his first attempt, he confidently stepped to the platform and snatched this weight.
For his second attempt Dadash had 174 kg on the bar and successfully lifted it overhead, it seemed to be like a smooth ride for Dadashbayli, he immediately went for his third attempt and put 176 kg on the bar and snatched it in what some would say an easy looking lift, granting him a gold medal in Snatch.

In the Clean and Jerk rounds Dadash started with 207 kg attempt, the lift went like a smooth breeze, at this moment Dadash was tied with his competitor from Poland Arsen Kasabijew, for his second attempt Dadashbayli went for a Clean and Jerk of 212 kg, a 5 kg jump, he stepped onto the platform and successfully cleaned and jerked it overhead.
And after Rasulbekov from Kyrgyzstan lifted 219 kg, Dadash went for it and attempted 220 kg, he got close to the bar, cleaned it but couldn’t stabilize it overhead in the jerk and missed the lift, leaving Dadash with a score of 212 kg and a second place on the Clean and Jerk.
With his 176 kg in Snatch and 212 kg in Clean and Jerk Dadash managed to get a Total of 388 kg, enough to get the top spot at the Total podium and a second gold medal for the Azerbaijan team.
About Dadash Dadashbayli
Born in 1996, this Azerbaijan lifter has been in the sport for a while now, to name a few of his accomplishments, he got a 9th place in the European Youth Championship in 2012 in the 85 kg category, Snatching 122 kg, Clean and Jerking 150 kg for a Total of 272 kg, he’s also been to the 2023 IWF World Championship where he got a bronze medal in the 109 kg category with a snatch of 180 kg, a clean and jerk of 223 kg for a total of 403 kg.
