The fifth competition day at the 2024 IWF Asian Championships was great for Taiwan as they managed to win their seventh silver medal in the women’s 71 kg event.

Chen Wen-Huei delivered an outstanding performance and managed to improve on the bronze medal that she won at last year’s Asian Championships by standing on the second podium spot.

To get there, she first lifted 108 kg in the snatch on her third attempt and 128 kg on the Clean&Jerk for a total of 236 kg, just five kg more than bronze medalist Mun Minhee and a whooping 33 kg less than first-placed Song Kuk Hyang. With that said, this was a fantastic result for Team Taiwan, who are already in third place for total medals, just behind Indonesia and Thailand.
