News Europe 2024 Olympic Weightlifting

Andreea Cotruta won Bronze in the Clean & Jerk Event During the Women’s 59 kg Category at 2024 IWF European Championships

On day 3 of the European Championships in Sofia, we’re back with action from the women’s lighter-weight categories.

With some of the best performances so far, this category showed us a lot of strong female lifters, ready to battle it out for the top podium spots and for Paris Qualification.

For Andreea Cotruta from Romania, this edition of the Europeans is likely not what she expected. The Romanian started the competition shakily, only lifting 94 kg on the snatch, which left her in 5th place on the overall rankings.

Later on, she tried to battle for an overall podium spot with a 118 kg clean & jerk that was accomplished on her third attempt. However, it only led to a bronze medal for the event, and she finished just outside the top 3 overall, in fourth place.
