Karlos Nasar Lifts 220 kg In the Clean & Jerk During Practice

Karlos Nasar is one of the favorites for the Olympic title in the 89kg category, as the Bulgarian has been showing terrific form since late last year.

After winning the Europeans in February and the IWF World Cup in Thailand a few weeks ago, Nasar uploaded a video of himself in the training hall lifting impressive weights.

In the clip uploaded to Instagram, Karlos easily lifts 220 kg in the Clean & Jerk for one rep and attempts a second lift, where he’s able to easily clean the weight but falls short in the jerk as he loses control of the bar in the split position.

The Bulgarian currently holds the world record in the Clean & Jerk in the 89 kg division, having set it during last year’s World Cup in Qatar, where he lifted 223 kg.

As the Olympics come closer and closer, Nasar is seemingly working hard to keep up the good form, as he has said multiple times that the Olympic gold medal is his dream and it’s the only accolade he has failed to win so far in his career.

As it looks now, he’s the primary candidate for the title, and it will take a lot from his opponents to overthrow him in Paris.
