Author:
When it comes to team South Korea, they’ve been having quite a run during the Asian Championships in Tashkent, and yesterday, during the men’s 89 kg event, they had another athlete performing well at the highest level.
Yo Dong Ju finished 6th overall in his category; however, he managed to get a win for the Clean & Jerk lift with a terrific performance.
On his first attempt, he lifted 190 kg, 195 kg on his second attempt, and 201 kg on the final one, which gave him the lead as it was one kilogram more than second-placed Ali Alipour.

Unfortunately, his snatch performance was not up to par, as he finished in 10th place for that lift with only 145 kg.
Yo Dong Ju is one of the most successful South Korean athletes in recent years, having represented his country in the Olympic Games and during multiple World Championships. In 2021, he won the World Championships in Tashkent, and two years before that, in 2019, he also won the Asian Games, so for him, this performance was like going back in time to his best days competing.
