IWF Grand Prix II, Day 8 Recap – Women’s 76 kg Results

The stakes are rising with each competition day at the Grand Prix II in Doha, so the eighth day brought us thrilling and unexpected turns of the females’ performances. Seven athletes were competing today to become closer to the selection for the Olympic Games and also bring their country a bright win at the world weightlifting arena.

Highlights of the Category Women’s 76 kg: Jong Chun Hui at the Leading Positions, Defeating Rivals from Lithuania and USA

This competition day was memorable as lifters from the Women’s 76-kg category demonstrated their persistence and determination to defeat their opponents with the following weights: the winner became Jong Chun Hui who got total gold in Snatch of 115 kg, Clean&Jerk of 135 kg, and 250 kg in total. She managed to lift 25 kilos more than her rival in second place.

The second place was occupied by a lifter from Lithuania Brazaite Gintare who performed a total of 225 kg, 100 kg in Snatch, and 125 kg in Clean&Jerk. If to remind you of her professional career, she finished 5th at the 2021 European Championships. In 2019 she competed at the World Champs, showing the 13th result.

Gonzalez Alexia from the USA took bronze due to 207 kg in the Snatch round, 114 kg in Clean & Jerk, and a total gained 207 kg. By the way, it was her first international competition, as she started her journey four years ago in cross-training which eventually led to weightlifting.

So, today we have three top leaders at each session who won all gold, silver, and bronze medals respectively. To sum up, here’s the list of all medalists in the Women’s 76-kg division who got any medal in every round:

  1. Jong Chun Hui won 3 gold medals in Snatch, Clean & Jerk, and total.
  2. Brazaite Gintare won 3 silver medals in all rounds.
  3. Gonzalez Alexia got all 3 bronze medals at this competition.
