Yes, we’re talking about Elreen Ann Q. Ando from the Philippines, who won two silver medals – one for the overall event and one for the Clean & Jerk lift. She finished with a total of 213 kg, lifting 93 kg in the snatch event, which left her outside the top 5 for the lift, and 120 kg on the clean & jerk, which awarded her with a silver medal for that lift and ultimately won her the silver medal for the competition as well.

Prior to these Asian Championships, Elreen had not won big in the last 3 years, finishing 8th in the World Championships in Riyadh last year and not even ranking during last year’s Asian Championship, so for her, this podium finish is more than a good result, as we get closer to the Olympics in Paris.

This second-place finish is tied with her previous silver medal in 2020 during the Asian Championships in Tashkent, where she again lifted 213 kg – so this might well be her lucky spot.
