Ivan Dimov

Bulgaria’s Young Weightlifting Sensation

Ivan Dimov was born on December 4th, 2002, and he’s competing mostly in the 62 kg weight category. He has already made a name for himself, and the biggest moment of his career so far was the gold medal at the 2022 European Weightlifting Championships, which showed his potential, talent, and dedication to weightlifting.

In 2018, he competed in the European Youth Championships in the 50 kg category and won a silver medal with a total lift of 189 kg. The next year, he participated in the European Youth Championships in the 5 kg category and finished in sixth place with a total lift of 217 kg. His performance in these youth competitions laid a solid foundation for his future in weightlifting.

He smoothly transitioned into senior competitions and continued to improve his strength and skills. In 2021 he competed at the European Junior Championships in the 67 kg category and won a bronze medal with a total lift of 291 kg.

2022 was a breakthrough year for Dimov. He competed in the European Weightlifting Championships in Tirana, Albania in the 61 kg category. His performance was exceptional – he lifted 135 kg in the snatch and 151 kg in the clean and jerk, which came up to a total of 286 kg. This earned him a gold medal.

In 2023, he participated in the IWF World Championships in the 61 kg category, where he ranked sixth with a total of 293 kg. He also competed in the European Championships twice in 2023 and earned a bronze medal in April with a total lift of 277 kg and a silver medal in February 2024 with a total lift of 280 kg.

At the 2023 IWF Grand Prix II in December, he competed in the 67 kg category and won second place with a total lift of 300 kg. He lifted 140 kg in the snatch and 160 kg in the clean and jerk.

As of 2024, Dimov continues to compete at the highest levels of weightlifting. He participated at the IWF World Cup in Paris, a qualifying agent for the Olympics, but he did not register a total.
