Li Fabin

Chinese Weightlifting Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist

Li Fabin, born on January 25th, 1993, is a Chinese weightlifter, Olympic gold medalist, World Champion, and four-time Asian Champion. He competed in the 56 kg division until 2018 and then transitioned to the 61 kg division as of 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the weight categories. His exceptional skills and achievements have made him one of the leading figures in weightlifting.

He has numerous achievements to be proud of. He competed at the 2018 World Championships in the newly created 61 kg category and won a silver medal in the snatch and in the total. He continued being successful at the 2019 Asian Weightlifting Championships, where he won gold medals in all lifts in the 61 kg division. These victories showed his ability to excel in different weight categories and they cemented his status as a top competitor.

In 2021, Li Fabin won the gold medal in the men’s 61 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. This secured his place among the elite weightlifters on a global scale, and it was the pinnacle of his career.

He’s known for his unique and effective #Flamingo Lift” technique, where he balances on one leg during the clean and jerk and this is something that’s fascinating to both judges and fans. He injured his knee in 2016, but he’s managed to make an incredible comeback despite it, which shows just how determined he is to stay on the top of his game. He has a very strong fan base in China, which is due to his humble personality and dedication to promoting weightlifting.

His success continues to this day. He won the gold medal at the 2023 Asian Championships, the 2023 World Championships, and the 2024 IWF World Cup in Paris.
