HOW I AM CREATING COMMUNITY TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER WHEN THERE IS NO WAY FOR PEOPLE TO COME TOGETHER
The design of the training program is an incredibly interesting process. At the same time, this is an everyday business for some athletes and coaches and almost incomprehensible magic or art for others. In my opinion, the truth is somewhere in the middle, because no one really knows how to do it, and we are together trying to find the right training path for the growth and progress of sports results.
I started my experiments with the making of training programs more than 15 years ago. Thanks to working with different coaches in the national team, I managed to see and test various approaches to training, systematize, and process them using statistical methods and then test them on myself and my teammates.
In fact, I recorded and calculated my entire sports career, while these programs were both made by my coaches and me personally. And that is all: understanding of various methods, analysis of the errors of failed performances and successful regularities. Then I thought that I was doing this for the coach, and only years later I realized what important work I did and what experience I gained myself.
After I finished my professional career, I had a desire to share my experience with other athletes, and when the rapid development of functional fitness and weightlifting began, I realized that this was the very moment, and I was in the right place at the right time, and this inspired me even more.
My first weightlifting training programs I posted online more than 5 years ago. About 5-7 thousand athletes did them during this time. Hashtag #torokhtiy_gang is mentioned only on Instagram more than 8800 times. I honestly did not expect this to give such a large-scale response. Working with reviews and comments made it possible to understand what exactly the athlete was looking for, how he perceived the information, what important and valuable it was to him.
All this prompted me to a new life stage - writing a dissertation on the methodology of remote online training and training in weightlifting. In my dissertation, I want to investigate experimentally and prove the effectiveness of this approach in sports training.
The experimental base of athletes for my PhD work, I see the very community that we all call TOROKHTIY GANG. This is especially valuable to me, because, traveling around the world, I meet like-minded people and followers who are united by the views and training principles that I once shared with them.
The desire to develop further the TOROKHTIY GANG community led me to one of the best platforms - TRAINHEROIC. We had been negotiating and discussing for a long time in the key of what training programs structure, forms of visualization, statistics, and progress were the most understandable and accessible to the user. It was extremely important for me that this was equally convenient when used both on a PC and on a smartphone.
Besides, an important emphasis was placed on the ability to fully communicate with both the whole team and each athlete individually: track progress, give video comments and tips, and, of course, motivate. The work with athletes is carried out on a daily basis in the app feed: adjusting technique based on athletes' videos, discussing the results of the training day, motivation, individual and team recommendations. I believe that awareness of any action increases the effectiveness of the process at times.
Working on this product, I focused on those aspects that will help the team get the best version of the training program:
- my video library with visualization of important details;
- specialized warm-up aimed at preparing and activating muscles before a certain exercise;
- detailed load with warm-up and working sets;
- technical training to improve movement mechanics in the Snatch, Clean and Jerk;
- scale loads in weekly cycles;
- possibility to combine #TOROKHTIY_GANG with functional fitness programs.
I'm launching the team training program #TOROKHTIY_GANG right now when we are temporarily deprived of the opportunity to get together in one training or competitive gym. Therefore, I consider it very important that we can all perform the same task on the same day and by a single team become the best version of ourselves. After all, this is one of the best incentives to create an even more cohesive community, despite everything that happens!
