Just last month, Torokhtiy Team Media and Oleksiy himself traveled to meet with the Italian Olympic weightlifting team and, more specifically, to see first hand how Antonino Pizzolato is preparing for the Olympic Games in Paris.
With just a few days to go, until the start of the world’s biggest sporting event, we’ve decided to show you an exciting part of our team’s Italian trip – the snatch battle between Oleksiy and Antonino.
Before starting their battle, both athletes did some warm-up stretches and lifts with only the barbell, so that they could be ready for the starting weight of 100 kg (220 lbs). With the starting weight of 100 kg, Nino did two hang snatches, while Oleksiy managed 3 snatches from the floor.

With the next weight of 120 kg (264 lbs), Nino again easily achieved two reps of hang snatches, and Oleksiy did two from the floor, but it was visible that the heavier way was taking a tool.
For the next challenge, the weight was raised to 130 kg (286 lbs), and Torokhtiy again managed to complete two full reps from the floor. Nino chose to rest for this weight and move straight into the 140 kg (308 lbs) lift, where he did three hang snatches again.
With 140 kg, Oleksiy struggled to get the first rep and had to restart the lift, but on his second try, he managed to make the lift from the floor again.
Once this final challenge was passed, the two athletes lowered the weight by half to 70 kg (154 lbs), and Nino started his pyramid-style snatch training, where he had to get two reps on the snatch with one weight, in order to move on to a higher one. By the end of the session, the Italian Olympian was lifting 160 kg (352 lbs) for doubles in the hang snatch.
As can be seen from the video Nino Pizzolato is in great shape heading to the Olympic Games and we from Torokhtiy media wish him the best of luck in Paris.
