Sofia will host the Senior European Weightlifting Championship held from the 12th to the 20th of February. This time the Bulgarian Weightlifting Federation received the right to arrange the most important continental competition, which is also the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualification Event.

Indeed, Bulgaria will attract an immense audience for such a prestigious event in the weightlifting world. Moreover, it has one of the greatest athletes, Karlos Nasar, who has set world records as a teenager. He is considered to be a strong medal contender in the 89-kg weight division. So, there won’t be an issue for him to qualify for Paris.

The best weightlifters in Europe will compete for the continental title and also to get a spot in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. By the way, the US team will also participate in this competition: the IWF Executive Board approved USA Weightlifting’s participation in the 2024 European Championship in Sofia.

Let’s observe shortly who we’ll succeed in watching at this competition, and assess their chances and rivalry rate among the top world athletes.
