Clean and Jerk

The clean and jerk started at 175 kg and it escalated the intensity even further. Andreev managed to lift 190 kg, which has earned him another fourth place.

He was successful in all 6/6 attempts; he started with 183 kg, then moved on to 187 and, finally, 190 kg.

Combined with his snatch performance, his performance in the clean and jerk got him a total lift of 344 kg and that was enough for him to earn a bronze.

The gold medal went to Indonesia’s Juniansayh Rizki, who set a new Olympic record with a total lift of 354 kg. The silver went to Thailand’s Wichuma Weeraphon, who lifted just 2 kilograms more than Andreev. The narrow margins between the lifters kept the atmosphere really intense and the spectators were on the edge of their seats.
