Wichuma Weeraphon from Thailand won a silver medal in the men’s 73 kg weight class at the 2024 Paris Olympics with a total lift of 346 kg. This is a huge milestone for Weeraphon, who is a first-time Olympian. He already had a strong reputation because he won a gold medal at the 2023 World Championships in Riyadh, so expectations were high.

Snatch

The snatch started with lifters attempting weights that started at 138 kg. On his first attempt, he successfully lifted 148 kg, but his second and third attempts at 152 kg were unsuccessful.

Despite the high stakes and competitive atmosphere, Weeraphon didn’t manage to finish in the top 6 in snatch session. The snatch proved challenging and if he wanted to win a medal, his clean and jerk performance had to be super strong.
