One of the best heavyweight lifters in the world and certainly a legend in the sport is showing no signs of stopping, as he prepares for his third Olympic Games.

Even though he missed competing in the last World Cup in Thailand and only did a weigh-in to qualify for Paris, Lasha Talakhadze – showed fantastic form in training, as he can be seen doing triples of 295 kg on the back squat with relative ease.

The seven-time European champion, six-time World Champion, and two-time Olympic champion hasn’t been competing a lot since last Worlds 2023 in Saudi Arabia as he’s had to deal with many injuries and has preferred to keep his body as healthy as possible, avoiding events when he can as he has set his sights on Paris as the ultimate goal.

Even though Talakhadze has dominated the +109 kg category for years, he now seems to have more competition than before, with Gor Minasyan from Bahrain and Armenian Varazdat Lalayan on his heels, but still, his qualifying total for the Games is 10 kg more than theirs and the hopes for a third Olympic title live on.
