She successfully lifted 103 kg on her first attempts but failed on her second attempt when she tried to lift 105 kg. However, that 105 kg lift ended up being a success on her third attempt, but as hard as she tried, she couldn’t get a spot in the top three.

Clean and Jerk

Her performance in the clean and jerk was more successful. This part of the contest started at 110 kg and the pressure started to mount as the competition went on.

Kuo started her attempts at 130 kg. Her first attempt didn’t go so great and it resulted in a failed lift. Luckily, she quickly recovered and successfully lifted 130 kg on her second try. For her last attempt, Kuo made a bold move with a 7 kg increase and she was going for 137 kg. Sadly, this wasn’t successful and it left her with a best lift of 130 kg, which was enough to earn her third place in the snatch.

Although she didn’t manage to lift 137 kg, the 130 kg lift in the clean and jerk, combined with her performance in the snatch, brought her the total of 235 kg and a bronze medal. She was just one kilogram behind Canada’s Maude Charron, who won silver, and 6 kilograms behind the gold medalist Luo Shifang.
