Founded in 2011, Promix aims to produce supplements that are scientifically driven with proven performance benefits. The brand uses a stringent testing process to make sure it delivers exactly what it intends to.
The Promix Whey Protein Isolate contains 30 grams of 100% grass-fed whey protein isolate in each 34-gram serving, giving you an 88% protein percentage of calories for the unflavored version. In terms of other macronutrients, each serving contains 2 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of sugar, and 0.5 grams of fat. Other noticeable ingredients include 6.6 grams of BCAAs and some added Omega-3s and CLA.
Each Promix tub has been third-party tested by Eurofins and Covance. Promix offers 2.5-pound and 5-pound tub options in three flavor choices which include unflavored. Each serving of the unflavored version costs $1.29, with a subscribe and save option also available.

Who and What is the Promix Protein Powder For?
Protein is classed as an essential macronutrient which means our body needs to consume it via our dietary intake to function optimally. Protein is part of the big three macronutrients which include carbohydrates and fat. Common sources include meat, fish, eggs, and nuts.
Protein powders such as the Promix Whey Isolate provide a convenient source of protein that can be mixed with various liquids and foods to ensure you hit your daily protein intake targets. Note that the Promix Whey Isolate didn’t mix well with hot liquids when we tested it in person. With this, they prove especially useful when consuming purely whole foods isn't feasible or possible during certain life and sporting events or situations.
The unflavored Promix Whey Isolate contains 30 grams per serving giving a protein content of approximately 88%. This makes it a great option as a protein supplement for the situations listed below:

Our Promix Protein review below has been performed following a detailed testing and review process by our team of in-house experts. Use the points below to make an informed choice as to whether the Promix Whey Protein Isolate Powder is the right choice for your dietary needs.
1. Macronutrient Breakdown
The Promix Whey contains 30 grams of grass-fed isolate as its sole protein source with 2 grams of carbs, 1 gram of sugar, and 0.5 grams of fat. In terms of macronutrients, this hits the mark nicely, providing a large amount of high-quality protein with minimal added macronutrients. Whilst this product isn’t sugar-free, it’s still a great option for athletes who are counting their intakes.
For the unflavored version, 88% of calories are provided from the protein which is pretty high when compared to other powders. The flavored versions are where Promix has some work to do. Only 70-77% of the calories are from protein, with the rest primarily from the added coconut sugar. Whilst this is better than other sugars, it’s still something to work on for future formulations.
2. Other Ingredients
Promix has used Organic Cocoa and Organic Coconut Sugar to provide flavor and sweetening instead of artificial ingredients that most brands commonly use. For those who want to avoid artificial ingredients, this is a big plus from Promix.
Sunflower Lecithin is also included which helps to improve mixability. When examining reviews it does seem that this has helped with mixability, with most users reporting no lumps and clumps after shaking.
3. Taste/ Flavor
During the mixability test, we also looked at the appearance, smell, and taste to give you an overall picture of what to expect before buying. For the chocolate flavor we tested, it had a brown color when mixed and smelt like a nice dark chocolate bar or cocoa. Upon tasting, we found that it tasted like dark chocolate with no real sweetness, making it better with milk than water.
Promix also offers an unflavored version which is the one we’ve focused on for most of this review and a vanilla flavor. Future releases could look to add more exciting flavor choices to cater to a wider range of taste buds.
4. Nutrition Label Transparency
Promix usually operates with excellent transparency, listing all ingredient amounts and types alongside testing processes and ingredient sources. On the back of the tub, the nutrition label clearly states all ingredients, including the allergen information.
On their website, we noticed they actually include the test results for each product which we haven’t often seen from other brands. We find this to be pretty impressive and think it’s something other brands should follow!
5. Mixability
Our in-house team of experts tested the whey isolate for themselves and found that it mixed well in water with no clumps or lumps at the bottom. This is most likely due to the added Sunflower Lecithin mentioned above.
6. Value for Money
This is where the Promix Whey Isolate really shines. The price per serving for the unflavored version comes in at just $1.29. For a product with 30 grams of whey isolate alongside other added ingredients and third-party testing, this really does offer great value for money.
7. Brand Awareness
Promix was formed in 2011 when the founder noticed a disconnect between nutrition products and high-quality farm ingredients. Since starting small, Promix grew to be an industry leader, producing a range of protein powders, snacks, tablets, and gym gear.
They are now a hugely popular supplement brand with 84 employees and a revenue of approximately $7 million in 2023. People like them for their product quality, transparent labeling, and value for money.
How do you use the Promix Whey Protein Isolate Protein?
According to scientific research, an overall daily protein intake of 1.6-2.2g/kg body mass (0.7-1.0g/lb body mass) is required to maximally stimulate MPS. For older populations suffering from sarcopenia or those undergoing intense dietary regimes, a protein intake of up to 3g/kg body mass (1.4g/lb body mass) may be warranted.
The Promix Whey Protein Isolate Powder contains 30 grams of protein per serving which should contribute a decent amount to your overall daily protein intake when used daily as required. Consuming one serving of the Promix Whey would provide extra protein without taking too much away from the consumption of whole foods. As stated above, there may be certain situations in which bigger intakes are warranted.
According to Promix the suggested serving and usage are as follows:
- Mix two scoops with 12-16 fluid ounces of cold water or milk of choice. Shake well for 10 seconds
- Use post workout, to meet protein needs, or as part of a meal or snack
- For smoothies and bowls, add the same amount of liquid and blend on high for 30-60 seconds with fruits, vegetables, and nut butters of your choice. Other foods can also be added
- When adding as part of a dessert, mix the powder well and make sure it's fully dissolved before baking
Promix Whey Protein Isolate Alternatives
We’ve compared the Promix Whey isolate to other common brands below to give you a reference point when deciding which to choose.
1. Promix vs Kaged
Kaged Whey Protein Isolate

The Kaged Whey Protein Isolate contains 25 grams of whey isolate with no fat and no added sugar. While you get less fat and added sugar, you also get 5 grams less protein. A good thing about the Kaged powder is the addition of Prohydrolase to help with digestion. This is something that future Promix formulations could include.
Both products are third-party tested, with the Kaged powder bearing the informed choice logo on the front. The Kaged whey isolate comes in smaller tub sizes and doesn't have an unflavored option which are two things to work on in the future.
Overall, the Kaged powder costs slightly more and contains less protein but comes with better third-party testing.
2. Promix vs Transparent Labs

The Transparent Labs Whey Protein Isolate also uses 100% grass-fed whey isolate, with each serving containing 28 grams of protein, 0.5 grams of fat, and no carbohydrates or added sugars. Again, this has less carbohydrates and fat than Promix but still slightly less protein.
Both powders contain no artificial ingredients and feature third-party testing. Transparent labs offer far more flavor choices at 15 which includes the unflavored option.
Transparent labs tend to offer higher-quality products with better third-party testing but cost more than similar options. Unless you’re a high-level performance athlete, the Promix offers better overall value for money.
Conclusion
The Promix Whey Protein Isolate is well-formulated with a large amount of high-quality whey isolate and added BCAAs. Promix also offers excellent value for money per serving for both the unflavored and flavored options.
Future formulations should focus on reducing the amount of added sugar and adding more flavor options. Better third-party testing could also be used to ensure performance athletes that the powder doesn’t contain any banned ingredients.
