Hello there Warriors! In today’s review we will dive into the world of greens. Something that became extremely popular in recent years.
We all know the importance of consuming enough macro- and micronutrients for optimal health, but we all know that although not impossible, it can be challenging to get everything we need from diet alone. Especially if for some reason you have bigger needs.
Athletes and people who exercise in particular have often higher needs in case of nutrition because of increased energy expenditure and oxidative stress. Quite often the immune system needs extra care as well due to overall stress. Athletes (and all humans basically) may be at risk of nutrition deficiencies especially when their food choices are not the best ones.
Another thing is when people exercise a lot, they may think that they can eat whatever they want because of that increased energy expenditure and somehow they justify poor food choices. In the long term that will lead to deficiencies and have detrimental effects on their health and performance.
Folks often don’t realize that there is much more to nutrition aside from total calories and macro split, and that they can feel much better than they are simply by being more cautious with their nutrition.
In my career I’ve seen many cases when proper evaluation and addressing these deficiencies lead to significant improvements.
That’s where products like Huel Daily Greens come in with a nice promise. In a market full of new “fruits and greens” powders, choosing the right one can be difficult, especially when the names on the label don’t tell us much and some of them are even difficult to say.
But no worries, we’re here to break it down for you. Today, we do the Huel Daily Greens review.

First things first – basic Huel Greens review – what does Huel Daily Greens offer in terms of nutrition? In each 15g serving we can see an impressive amount of 91 different ingredients, including a variety of vitamins, minerals, probiotics, adaptogens, antioxidants and greens like spirulina, chlorella, and kale.
It can provide a well-rounded nutrient boost, which can be particularly beneficial for those who struggle to get enough veggies in their diet or simply have higher needs.
But something to work doesn’t just need to be there on the list, it also needs to be dosed correctly. Let’s see how Huel Daily Greens solve that problem.
In each 15g serving we can see an impressive amount of 91 different ingredients, including a variety of vitamins, minerals, probiotics, adaptogens, antioxidants and greens like spirulina, chlorella, and kale.

Deeper look at Huel Daily Greens Ingredients and Formulation
Huel Daily Greens shine with an impressive list of ingredients aimed to support overall health. The whole blend includes:
- Vitamins and minerals: Long list of Essentials for human daily functions.
- Organic Antioxidant Greens Blend: Antioxidant blend with spirulina, chlorella, kale, spinach, broccoli.
- Probiotics: Gut-friendly Bacteria for digestive health.
- Organic Superfruit Blend: Blend of fruits rich in phytonutrients
- Organic Super Mushroom Adaptogen Complex: Blend of Adaptogens
- Plant-Based Protein & Raw Superfood Blend: Seeds and Plant-based protein
- Organic Botanical Blend: Blend of plants and spices
What makes Huel nice is its comprehensive formula without artificial sweeteners or colorings because recently there is some controversy around them (some justified, some not) …
Would not make much sense making a product full of organic ingredients and then adding artificial coloring for no reason - yet some of them still do it. Huel didn't make that mistake. We get Non-GMO, Gluten free, No artificial colorings, No artificial sweetener, No animal byproducts blend ready to mix.
We have a very nice list of vitamins in minerals in solid doses making a Huel Daily Greens a nice multivitamin and mineral daily supplement. There are in that blend/serving vitamins and minerals specifically important for athletes and people who exercise
- vitamins A, C, E - extremely important for immune system
- vitamin D, K, calcium, magnesium (unfortunately oxide) - important for muscle and bone health
- Iron - fundamental for performance, important for oxygen transport, athletes and especially women athletes should pay attention to iron cause they are at risk of deficiency
- Zinc and Selenium and Iodine - very important for thyroid function.
- B vitamins and folate - I personally like that idea of inclusion of methylated forms of vitamin b12 and folate (not folic acid)
and more…
Let’s leave vitamins and minerals for now and check the Huel super greens review - superfoods. Unfortunately Huel decided to use proprietary blends in their product, which means you don’t know how most of the ingredients are dosed and if they are dosed correctly/effectively. Let’s have a look at a few that are proven to be beneficial but with specific doses.
Ashwagandha for example is actually nicely researched already and proven to help with sleep, recovery and stress management and even some testosterone boost (probably by addressing previous two) but… A regular dose we see in studies vary from 300-600mg a day
Rhodiola Rosea which is another nice adaptogen people should get familiar with as it has a potential to improve exercise recovery and performance. Usually dosed around 300-400mg a day.
So just these 2 adaptogens (Ashwagandha and Rhodiola Rosea) should make up for at least 600mg together, but… they are included in a 170mg blend with many other roots and compounds, which means at least main two I mentioned are definitely not dosed effectively to get benefits that are shown in clinical studies.
As to the nice Huel Greens powder description of “Plant-Based Protein & Raw Superfood Blend” and how and from what they are manufactured I need to make sure you know there is only 3g of proteins and 0.5g of omega-3s in each serving. So if you are looking to somehow boost your protein intake with Huel Daily Green - it probably won’t help you much.
Another thing you might consider is that while often plant based proteins are being more and more popular among even non-vegan users the pea protein that is often advertised as hypoallergenic, in reality is not.
Additionally people with existing peanut allergies should be careful when choosing pea protein. It would be smart to check with your allergologist if there is a chance you might be allergic to peas as well. In that case you should look for other protein sources.
As to the 2.5g of Antioxidant blend, while a proprietary blend with all these ingredients can offer antioxidant and health benefits, the actual effectiveness will depend on the specific amounts of each ingredient and their bioavailability.
For example most of the clinical studies about effects of spirulina supplementation, use few grams per day and even then not all show effects different from placebo. So while getting this blend might be beneficial for your health, it’s hard to determine to what degree, if at all. I would love to see better label transparency like Huel has with their other products.
So to give you more or less a bigger picture there is about 50 different ingredients in these botanical, green, fruit, adaptogen, mushroom blends but in total they sum up into less than 3.5g. 15g serving is mainly carbs, some protein and fiber.
I know you probably expected a comprehensive breakdown of all ingredients and how beneficial they will be to your health, unfortunately I can’t help that much with most of the “greens” included, simply because I don’t know the doses.
At the end of the label we see 3 mg probiotic blend of Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856 and Bifidobacterium bifidum 100B, which unfortunately, there is a high chance it is not enough to be effective.
So while there is an impressive list of ingredients on the label, I’d say that it’s a very nice multivitamin and mineral supplement with some antioxidant potential, but potential is a keyword here.
1. Flavor and Taste
Huel Daily Greens has a kind of earthy taste, which is actually quite common with many greens powders I have tried. It might not be your favorite drink (most likely won’t be), but you don’t take it for its taste and to be honest it’s absolutely manageable. Almost everytime I try to include such a product during my day, I mix it with my morning shake.
Some folks report a slightly grassy taste, which is understandable when we give the Huel Daily Greens label a look (or any greens and fruits supplement). So You may drink it in the morning like a monster, mixed with water and enjoy its taste 🙂 or mix it with your shake like a normal human being hahaha.
Jokes aside, mixed with water it's actually not that bad and has a bit of green apple flavor. On the Huel website you can see recommendation to drink it as a first thing in the morning with your breakfast, which is not a bad idea from a habits perspective - you will build a healthy one. It might set your day properly.
2. Price and Value
Taking all of the above into account I need to say that at approx $1.50 per serving, Huel Daily Greens is reasonably priced compared to other premium greens powders.
The nice list of vitamins and minerals in the serving plus the potential of antioxidant blend and some adaptogens for that price would probably convince me enough to try the product and see what happens after a month. Just check how much you’d need to pay for a good quality multivitamin.
In terms of value there is another thing - of course optimally you’d like to get all that vitamins and minerals from food and many people will stay away from multivitamin and mineral supplements just because they know they should get them from food. But often what we should and what we do are not the same things.
So while you are working on getting what you need from food and building a great and nutritious diet, that kind of supplement may become handy - like you don’t need to take it everyday anyway, you may have it just in case.
Value… If you’re getting your micronutrients from food, you probably (most likely) won’t feel a difference and should not take it. But if you don’t - I’d say that for that price, value is kind of great.
It is simple - if it works for you, get the sub, if not … leave it. And if it does, Huel offers you a subscription option which gives you a 20% discount on their product, which is a nice thing and not a small price reduction.
Also if you are ordering for the first time you will get your Huel Daily Greens, a Huel Daily Greens bottle and a Huel t-shirt if this is something that potentially can bring you closer to your first buy.
Kaged Organic Greens Elite
- Serving Size: 1 scoop (17.2 g)
- Servings per Container: 30
- Calories per Serving: 50
If you’re looking for some alternative because Huel did not convince you, be sure to check Kaged Organic Greens Elite. Label Transparency is exactly what you want and you can see how all ingredients are dosed. Like Huel it’s a nice multivitamin and mineral blend, and that one gives you around 50% of your DV of listed vitamins and minerals (plenty) in a single serving.
Less ingredients in case of greens and fruits etc but nicer doses - more likely to be effective. I personally like the addition of turmeric powder which is a powerful antioxidant. Would love to see 500mg instead of 300mg but it is still nice.
Finally Ashwagandha dosed at 300mg is what I was talking about earlier - use it for about 6 weeks and there is a high chance you will feel a difference.
Conclusion
To wrap up Huel Daily Greens nutrition facts - it is a solid choice for anyone looking to boost their daily intake of vitamins, minerals, and… greens? Its long list of 91 ingredients, with that vegan-friendly formulation and lack of artificial sweeteners or colors, makes it a worth checking product if you are looking for popular nowadays greens and fruits supplement.
You are not taking it for its taste so… the nutritional benefits it (potentially) offers are worth it especially that Huel offers actually nice value for money compared to most popular green supplements on the market.
Nowadays some folks who struggle to get enough vegetables and fruits during the day, can’t imagine their morning without Greens supplements. Others actually experience some digestive issues (there are few reasons - some good and some bad) and don’t take it again.
I guess you need to find out for yourself. Afterwards, please share with us your experience…
