42 Days To Førde

The Weightlifting World Championships 2025 land in Førde, Norway on October 2-11. Organizers are promising a packed week across all sessions, with tickets already on sale and a full local guide online.

This Worlds will also be the first senior global meet under the IWF’s new eight-by-eight bodyweight map, in effect since June 1. Men now lift at 60, 65, 71, 79, 88, 94, 110, and +110 kg; women at 48, 53, 58, 63, 69, 77, 86, and +86 kg. World Standards for the reset record books were published in late June to kick-start the chase.

The Headline: 205 C&J From Rizki

Olympic champion Rizki Juniansyah just posted a crisp 205 kg clean and jerk from the Seleksi Nasional Angkat Besi 2025 (Indonesia’s national team selection). The lift comes in the middle of his build for IWF Worlds 2025 and serves as a loud marker after spring’s Asian campaign.

The selection meet itself is running this week at Pelatnas Kwini, Jakarta, with PB PABSI using IWF’s new classes.

Rizki’s Form Check

Juniansyah arrives as the Paris 2024 men’s 73 kg Olympic champion and Indonesia’s breakout star.

Since Paris he’s been testing the waters up a class. At the Asian Championships 2025 in Jiangshan he snatched 161, clean and jerked 197 for bronze in the lift, and totaled 358 for silver overall – all while dealing with a bloodied hand.

What’s Next?

With the IWF Championships 2025 shifting into the new grid, the 79 kg men’s class is shaping up fast. Indonesian media previewed a domestic 79 kg clash at Seleksi, and if that carries forward to Førde it sets the stage for a fresh chapter in the Rahmat–Rizki storyline.

For context, Rahmat Erwin Abdullah stamped a 205 kg clean and jerk world record at Asians this spring in the old 73s. That number, now seen again from Rizki in Seleksi prep, tells you where the Indonesian ceiling still is heading into IWF Worlds 2025.
