Park Hye-jeong won Silver in The Women’s 87+ kg Category at the 2024 IWF Weightlifting World Cup 

As we approach the final days of the IWF World Cup in Thailand, anticipation builds as the heavyweight categories step into the spotlight.

The competition for Olympic qualification in the women’s 87+ kg category was more than intense, showcasing incredible performances from the athletes.

Park Hyejeong is one of the athletes who can safely say she had a fantastic day competing at the IWF World Cup. The South Korean representative began by lifting 130 kg on the Snatch, a result good enough to get her the silver medal for the lift.

She continued her good performance on the Clean & Jerk, where she got 166 kg on her first attempt, and failed second and third lifts. Her total of 296 kg was enough only for the silver medal in the total ranking, trailing almost 30 kg behind first-placed Li Wenwen.

In the last few years, Park Hye-Jeong has seen quite a bit of success, winning the 2023 World Championships and this year’s Asian Championships. Her good form gives us hopes to see an intense competition in Paris, where she’s one of the athletes expected to get on the podium.
