Clean and Jerk

In the clean and jerk, on his first attempt, Akbar Djuraev went for 219 kg (1 kilo less than Liu Huanhua) and succeeded effortlessly. However, after a dramatic two failed attempts (224 kg, and 232 kg) Djuraev finished with a total of 404 kg, netting him 2nd place.

Had he successfully repeated the 224 kg from his 2nd attempt, Djuraev might’ve added another Olympic gold to his arsenal. Regardless, with each of the athletes vying for the podium, each of the lifts proved crucial in this tightly contested category!

At 24 years old and already a seasoned competitor, the Uzbekistani weightlifter’s performance at Paris 2024 was nothing less but a testament to his skill and determination to the sport.

In the end, the gold was snatched by Liu Huanhua from the People’s Republic of China, while the bronze medal went to Yauheni Tsikhantsou, with each of them scoring a total of 406 kg and 402 kg, respectively.
