Li Wenwen won Gold in The Women’s 87+ Kg Category at the 2024 IWF Weightlifting World Cup

We’re nearing the last days of the IWF World Cup in Thailand, and that means it’s time for the real heavyweight categories to take center stage.
In a fierce battle for Olympic qualification, we saw some incredible performances from the athletes competing in the women’s 87+ kg category, so we’re certain that later this summer, in Paris, the competition will be even more intense.
Li Wenwen entered the IWF World Cup as the clear favorite to win it, as she holds multiple world titles and the current world record in both Snatch and total kilograms lifted.

Of course, the Chinese athlete didn’t disappoint, delivering a stellar performance all around. She began by lifting 133, 140, 145 kg on the Snatch and winning the gold medal for the exercise.
Then went on to get the impressive 180 kg on the Clean & Jerk (14 kg more than the athlete who finished in second place) and won another gold medal.
Finally, with a total of 325 kg, leading everyone by more than 25 kg, Li Wenwen won the gold medal in the overall ranking, cementing her spot as the favorite for the Paris Games.
In her career, Li Wenwen has won everything on the weightlifting stage. She’s the gold Olympic medalist from Tokyo, a two-time World Champion, and a three-time Asian Champion. Along with that, she holds multiple world records in the 87+ kg category.
