Youth World Champion, Junior World Champion

Ingrid Vanesa Segura Grueso, born June 29th, 2006, is a Colombian weightlifter known for her rapid rise through the youth and junior international ranks. With multiple world-level titles before turning 19, she has established herself as one of Colombia’s brightest young prospects and a lifter with the potential to become a major force at the senior level.

Segura first gained international attention as a teenager, winning three gold medals at the 2021 IWF Youth World Championships in the 64 kg category. Her standout performance demonstrated exceptional composure for her age and positioned her as Colombia’s next weightlifting star. She continued her momentum into 2022, again dominating her division at the Youth World Championships and securing another triple-gold sweep in snatch, clean&jerk, and total.

Her big breakthrough came at the 2024 IWF Junior World Championships in León, Spain. At just 18 years old, Segura delivered her most complete performance to date, lifting 101 kg in the snatch, 130 kg in the clean&jerk, and a 231 kg total to claim all three junior world titles. This triple-gold showing confirmed her as one of the top junior lifters in the world and a legitimate contender for future senior podiums.

In 2025, Segura began transitioning to higher-level international events, competing among more experienced athletes and showing that her talent extends well beyond youth and junior categories. Representing Bahrain, her early senior-level appearances have earned her recognition for strong technique, confidence under pressure, and the potential to develop into one of the nation’s leading women’s lifters.

Segura’s best competition lifts to date include a 107 kg snatch and a 134 kg clean&jerk – numbers that continue to rise as she matures physically and gains senior-level experience. Coaches and analysts note her explosive pulling power, solid foundational technique, and disciplined training approach as key factors in her rapid progression.

Her best lifts and exact weight class records are expected to improve steadily as she gains experience competing against senior-level lifters worldwide. With her championship experience and determination, Segura is widely regarded as one of the most promising young weightlifters representing Bahrain today.
