Vanessa Segura: Rising Force for Bahrain
Amid the buildup to the IWF Worlds 2025, Bahraini lifter Vanessa Segura has captured attention with a striking training milestone.
Recently, she posted a video on Instagram showcasing a 200 kg squat – a remarkable display of strength, posted August 30, 2025. While full competitive records for Segura are harder to find in public sources, this feat alone signals a serious contender is shaping up in her weight class.
What to Expect In Her Category
Vanessa Segura has already shown her competitive edge earlier this season. Representing Bahrain at the 2025 Asian Junior Championships, she put up a strong total with 104 kg in the snatch and 134 kg in the clean and jerk, performances that secured her the victory.
Those numbers underline that she’s not only building raw strength in training – like her recent 200 kg squat – but also translating it into competition results on the platform.
In Førde, Segura will not have an easy path. Her main rivals are expected to be Olivia Reeves of the United States and Julieth Rodríguez Quintero of Colombia – two athletes already proven on the world stage and capable of posting massive totals.
Reeves has become a dominant figure in her category, known for her consistency and explosive clean and jerks, while Rodríguez Quintero brings a blend of experience and raw power that always makes her a podium threat.
If Segura can channel her training gains into competition lifts, she may close the gap on these favorites and turn the contest into one of the most exciting battles of the Weightlifting World Championships 2025.
Outlook for Worlds
Vanessa Segura’s 200 kg squat video is more than a training highlight – it’s a statement to the weightlifting world that she’s preparing seriously for the biggest stage in her sport.
While the specifics of her category and rivals remain to be finalized, one thing is clear: she’s entering the championship on an impressive trajectory, and it’ll be exciting to see how that translates into her competition lifts.

I’m Vladyslava, and sport has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Over the past 10 years, I’ve explored it all – from CrossFit and powerlifting to running a half marathon. But my true passion found its home in Olympic weightlifting.
I’m proud to be a Ukrainian Weightlifting Champion (2018) and a prize winner of national championships in 2018–2019. My best lifts? A 57 kg snatch and a 73 kg clean & jerk in the 51 kg weight class. I’m also a Candidate for Master of Sports in weightlifting – and I’m still chasing new goals every day.
Beyond training, I’ve earned two Master’s degrees: one in Sport Management and another in Physical Education. Whether I’m lifting a barbell or helping others grow in sport, I’m all in – because for me, sport isn’t just a hobby, it’s a lifestyle.
