With so many protein powders available, finding the right one can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’re here to break these supplements down, and let you know which ones are truly worth your money.

In this XWERKS review, we’ll be looking at Grow, a high-quality protein powder sourced from New Zealand grass-fed cows. We’ll be going over its macros, pros and cons, as well as comparing it to some alternatives.

By the end of our XWERKS protein review, you should have a good idea if XWERKS is right for you. Let’s get into it.

XWERKS Grow Review – XWERKS Grow has pretty much everything we look for in a quality protein powder. It has a high protein-to-calorie ratio, and limited carbs and fats. Just keep in mind it is somewhat expensive, and contains artificial flavoring as well.

  • Suitable for Vegans: No
  • Protein Source: Whey Protein Isolate
  • Serving Size: 30g
  • Calories: 110
  • Protein per Serving: 23-25g

Each serving is only 110 calories, with 23-25g of protein depending on the flavor. There’s also a very low amount of carbs and fats in each serving. This macro breakdown would make XWERKS Grow protein powder a good option for anybody looking for a diet-friendly protein supplement.

XWERKS protein powder comes in four different flavors, which is fairly standard for a protein supplement. They offer peanut butter and strawberry flavors alongside the standard chocolate and vanilla options. We tried the chocolate and found it to have excellent taste and mixability, on par with some of our favorite protein supplements.

XWERKS Grow Mixing

The chocolate, vanilla, and peanut butter flavors are made with all-natural flavors. However, note that the strawberry flavor contains some unspecified artificial flavoring. While this won’t be a major issue to most, keep this in mind if you prefer to buy supplements made with all-natural ingredients.

Finally, in terms of price, XWERKS Grow will cost you ~$2.13 per serving. While this is fairly standard for a high-quality protein supplement, it may still be out of budget for some people.

58 EXPERT SCORE

XWERKS offers a high-quality protein supplement that rivals some of the best options out there. While it does have a few downsides, this is an all-around very solid pick.

XWERKS Grow Ingredients & Macronutrients Breakdown

Moving on, let’s take a closer look at the ingredients and macros you can expect in each serving of XWERKS Grow.

1. Source and Amount of Protein per Serving

First and foremost, let’s take a look at XWERKS’ protein source and amount.

The protein here is sourced from whey isolate, which is the most highly concentrated form of whey, at roughly 90% protein by weight. Whey concentrates on the other hand are typically closer to 80%, and have higher amounts of carbs and fats.

This makes isolates a better option for those on a strict caloric deficit, or those following a keto diet. Another benefit of whey isolates is that they’re so highly filtered they should be suitable for most lactose-intolerant individuals.

The whey here is also sourced from grass-fed cows, which appear to produce healthier milk than cows fed a standard diet. Giving cows a grass-fed diet is also likely more environmentally friendly than conventional grain-fed diets. Finally, grass-fed crows are typically free-range, meaning they’re likely treated better as well.

Depending on the flavor, you’ll be getting 23-25g of protein, which is within the range you can expect from most whey isolate supplements. We recommend shooting for 0.7-1g of protein per pound of body weight for muscle growth, so this supplement should help you hit these goals.

2. Source and Amount of Carbs and Fats per Serving

XWERKS Grow is a whey isolate that’s sweetened by stevia, which contains zero calories. As a result, it’s very low in both carbs and fats. Depending on the flavor, each serving of XWERKS only contains 0-2g of fat and 1g of carbs. This small amount of carbs and fats likely comes from the whey protein itself, and the natural flavoring used in this supplement.

As a result, this supplement is consistently low-calorie at 110 calories. This makes it a great option for anybody on a strict caloric deficit, like those prepping for a bodybuilding show, for example. However, it can still be used effectively by anyone, regardless of diet.

3. Micronutrients Breakdown

XWERKS has a fairly standard micronutrient breakdown for a whey protein powder. The only micronutrient it contains a significant amount of is Calcium, with 21% of your DV. It also contains trace amounts of 8 other micronutrients, ranging from 1-10% of your recommended DV, including:

  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin D
  • Iron
  • Phosphorus
  • Magnesium
  • Sodium
  • Potassium

Overall, this supplement won’t provide a significant dose of micronutrients, although it does contain a decent amount of your daily calcium. However, if you’re eating a balanced diet full of whole foods, it’s unlikely you need any additional micronutrient supplementation in your diet.

Pros and Cons of XWERKS Grow

Now, let’s take a closer look at the upsides and downsides of XWERKS Grow whey protein isolate. This should give you a clearer picture of what to expect when using this supplement, and whether it’s a good fit for your diet.

1. Pros of XWERKS Grow

First, let’s look at the pros, which include a great macro breakdown, a high-quality protein source, and delicious flavor.

✅ Excellent Macro Breakdown

Arguably the most important factor when choosing a protein powder is its macro breakdown. If this is a top priority for you, then XWERKS would be a great choice.

Each serving has 23-25g of protein, only 0-2g of fats and 1g of carbs. This makes it suitable for pretty much all diets, especially those on a caloric deficit, or those following a keto diet.

✅ Made from Grass-Fed Whey

Another reason you may want to consider XWERKS Grow is where its protein is sourced from. XWERKS uses grass-fed dairy, which is commonly considered healthier, more environmentally friendly, and more ethically raised than standard dairy. Overall, all these reasons mean grass-fed whey is just generally of a higher quality than grain-fed dairy.

This makes XWERKS a good choice for anybody who wants the highest-quality whey protein supplement possible.

✅ Great Flavor

Finally, while this may be a matter of personal preference, we found XWERKS Grow to have excellent flavor and texture for a protein supplement. We tried the chocolate flavor, and in our opinion, it’s on par with some of the best-tasting whey supplements on the market. We recommend mixing thoroughly with 1-2 cups of cold milk for the best flavor.

2. Cons of XWERKS Grow

Now that we’ve looked at the pros, we have to address the cons as well. While they are minor, it’s worth noting that XWERKS is fairly expensive and that the strawberry flavor is made with artificial ingredients.

❌ High Price Point

Each serving of XWERKS Grow will cost you ~$2.13, which in all honesty, is fairly standard for high-quality whey isolate supplements, even if there are cheaper options available. However, this may still be too much for some people to spend on a protein supplement. So, if budget is your top factor, XWERKS may not be the most budget-friendly brand.

❌ Strawberry Flavor Contains Artificial Flavors

One additional minor downside is that the strawberry flavor of Grow contains some artificial ingredients, which may be an issue for some people. Luckily, the other three flavors are made with an all-natural formula if artificial ingredients are of concern to you. However, for most people, this likely isn’t a major priority.

How to Use XWERKS Grow?

Like all whey supplements, we recommend using XWERKS Grow to help you hit your daily protein target of 0.7-1g per pound of body weight. For the best flavor in a basic protein shake, we recommend mixing one serving of Grow with 1-2 cups of milk.

You can also consider blending it into a smoothie with other ingredients like fruit and nut butter. This can be especially beneficial if you’re bulking. Or, you can try using this supplement while baking in any recipes that call for protein powder. There’s no wrong way to use protein powder as long as you find it tasty and convenient!

XWERKS Grow vs. Alternatives

Now that we’ve given our full XWERKS Grow Whey protein review, we’ll be comparing XWERKS with some of our favorite protein supplements from Transparent Labs and Kaged. At the end of the day, these are all great supplements, so go with whichever one feels right for you!

Transparent Labs consistently delivers some of the best supplements on the market, and their whey protein isolate is no exception, frequently taking the top spot on our best protein powder lists.

Each serving contains 28g of protein for only 130 calories, making it a great option for practically all diets. It’s also a great pick if you’re looking for flavor variety with a whopping 13 flavors to choose from! Similarly to XWERKS, this supplement is also made with grass-fed whey and contains no artificial ingredients whatsoever.

It’s also worth noting that Transparent Labs is slightly cheaper than XWERKS at only ~$2.00 per serving instead of ~$2.13, and you get a few grams of protein more. While this isn’t a major difference, it will add up over time if you plan on using either supplement regularly.

Next, we have Kaged, which is another very high-quality supplement brand, with another whey isolate.

This supplement has a very similar macro breakdown to XWERKS, with 25g of protein and between 100-120 calories depending on the flavor. Kaged comes in four different flavors, which is also the same as XWERKS. Note that this supplement does not appear to be made with grass-fed whey, and does contain artificial sweetener in the form of sucralose.

This is the cheapest supplement we’ve covered at ~$1.42-1.46 depending on the flavor. This makes it over 25% cheaper than the other two supplements we’ve looked at, making it the most budget-friendly option out of the three.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for a high-quality whey isolate supplement, you won’t be going wrong with XWERKS Grow. Along with an excellent macro breakdown and high-quality formula, this supplement also tastes terrific. While it does have a few very minor downsides, including price and the use of artificial flavoring, there’s not much to complain about with this product.
