At the 2024 IWF World Cup Teerapong Silachai won Silver in Clean and Jerk in the Men’s 61 kg Category

The 2024 IWF World Cup hosted in Thailand is the final chance for athletes to clinch their tickets to the Olympic Games that will happen later on in the summer. With their Olympic dream hanging in the balance, it’s expected that we will witness some incredible performances at this final competition.

Thankfully, the men’s 61 kg category didn’t disappoint, and we were able to see many great outings.

One of them was that of Teerapong Silachai from Thailand, who started off shakily, managing only 128 kg on the Snatch.

However, the representative of the host nation managed to put himself together and show a fantastic result on the Clean & Jerk as he lifted 171 kg and won the silver medal for that event.

With that said, his total of 299 kg wasn’t enough to get him on the podium and he finished in fifth place. 

In his career so far, Teerapong holds a Clean & Jerk Junior World Record in the 61 kg category and a Clean & Jerk Junior World Record in the 55 kg category.

He’s also won a bronze medal from the 2023 Asian Championships and a gold medal from the 2022 World Championships.
