Kate Vibert Preparing for The Last Qualifying Chance for the Olympic Games

The biggest event in the world of weightlifting this year will be the Olympic Games in Paris, which will be held in the summer. Of course, for all lifters worldwide, competing in the biggest sporting event is a lifelong dream.
The last chance to qualify for the Olympics will be the IWF World Cup that will happen in Thailand at the end of the month, and for Kate Vibert of Team USA, her performance there will determine whether or not she gets a spot in the Olympic team.
That’s why, in the last few weeks, the American has been documenting her preparation on her Instagram profile with a ton of videos showing her progress on many lifts – push press, clean and jerk, and so on.

The latest clip, however, is the most impressive one, as she can be seen setting a personal best of 3 reps of 185 kg on the back squat – showing fantastic form just a few weeks before the start of the most important competition of the year for her so far.
In her career so far, Kate Vibert has set the Junior World Record for the Snatch at the 71 kg category, having lifted 112 kg. As a senior, she’s won the Pan American Championships three times and the World Championships once, and she has a silver medal from the Olympic Games in Tokyo under her belt. Last year, after a sabbatical from the sport, she returned to competition in the
71 kg category and managed to finish 5th overall at the World Championships in Riyadh. Now, she’s hoping to show good results in Thailand and possibly attend her second Olympic Games in the summer.
