The tenth day of the IWF Weightlifting World Cup demonstrated the real competition and tension between the category’s powerhouses.
Stakes are rising and the competition between the category’s big names is going to burst with each lift. Let’s outline who ran the podium today and managed to improve their personal bests.

The winner in the 87-kg category was Koanda Solfrid from Norway: she snatched 123 kg on the third attempt, lifted 152 kg in Clean & Jerk on the first attempt, and resulted in 275 kg in total.
The second spot was occupied by Kim Yong Ju who did 258 kg in total, 113 kg in Snatch on the third lift, and 145 kg in Clean & Jerk on the second attempt.
The bronze medalist was Manievska Anastasiia from Ukraine who snatched 105 kg on the second lift, 129 kg in Clean & Jerk on the third attempt, and got a total of 234 kg.
Top Athletes’ Review
The 87-kg weight class winner Solfrid Koanda from Norway is a three-time gold medalist at the European Championships, a gold and bronze medalist at the World Championships. Today she lifted her best Snatch that is 6 kilos more compared to her lift at the 2023 Europeans.
While in Clean & Jerk, she performed her third-best result after 155 kg at the 2023 Europeans and 156 kg at the 2023 Worlds. Finally, her overall result of 275 kg was the best compared to the prior totals.
Speaking about the silver medalist Kim Yong Ju fell behind the category’s leader Solfrid by 17 kilos in total, 10 kilos in Snatch and 7 kilos in Clean & Jerk. By the way, there was a great weight gap of 24 kilos between her total and the bronze medalist.
The bronze holder became Manievska Anastasiia from Ukraine. She’s a three-time silver medalist at the European Championships who in 2022 fell behind Koanda Solfrid in the category. In Snatch she showed 3 kilos less than her lift at the Europeans in Yerevan. Although, what about Clean & Jerk, it was her second best one.

Considering the Snatch discipline, we can say that there were minimum failed attempts, while two contenders lifted all three attempts successfully.

Clean & Jerk results:
The situation in the Clean & Jerk session was almost the same: just one lifter performed all attempts with success, while the rest performed one failed attempt.

- 🥈 Kim Yong Ju (PRK) – 145 kg
- 🥉 Manievska Anastasiia (UKR) – 129 kg
One lifter, namely Nikola Senicova from Slovakia didn’t perform today despite being in the entry list.
