Angie Palacios Claims Gold at 2023 Pan American Games totaling an impressive 253 kg

Ecuador has finally clinched its first gold medal at the 2023 Pan American Games currently taking place in Santiago. The honor was secured by weightlifter Angie Palacios in the 71 kg category, a remarkable achievement in the women’s division that will be long remembered by devoted fans.
At the same time, she holds the current record for South and North America, which she achieved in Havana on June 14, 2023. Today, she emerges as the best in her weight category and the women’s division at the Pan American Games. It’s worth noting that the competitions are being held at Gimnasio Chimkowe in the Peñalolén district.
The discussed athlete lifted 118 kg in the snatch and 135 kg in the Clean & Jerk, totaling an impressive 253 kg. This is an outstanding achievement to be proud of.

Now, let’s turn our attention to the second place, also claimed by a South American, this time from Colombia. We’re talking about Mari Sánchez, who rightfully celebrates receiving the Silver medal. She lifted 112 kg in the snatch and 134 kg in the Clean & Jerk, with a total of 246 kg in her accomplishments.
The Bronze medal went to American weightlifter Meredith Alwine. She displayed good results, although they fell just short of the gold and silver performances. Her numbers include 103 kg in the snatch, and 136 kg in the Clean & Jerk.
