Final Thoughts

What can we say? A lot happened during this week-long event!

The 2024 event European Youth & U15 Championships embodied a compilation of amazing performances across both divisions (YOUTH & U15) and by both male and female weightlifters.

Numerous young prospects exist across all categories, a dozen medalists just shy of gold, and many lifters who barely missed their chance at getting a medal. It is extremely exciting to see what the future holds for these athletes.

There were many close attempts that had the audiences on their toes during the whole event, and there were also a few brackets which showed such colossal dominance by the gold medallists that it will surely become the stuff of legends, namely Di Maria Christian (ITA) and Tkeshelashvili Jaba (GEO), both in the Men’s U15 division, as well as the unforgettable Dal Bo Sara (ITA) in the Women’s U15 division. All three showed sheer dominion over their weight brackets and left the audience in amazement!

Is it a mere coincidence that these things happened in Greece, the home of Mount Olympus? Perhaps it is nothing, but perhaps it is foreshadowing for epic things to come in the world of weightlifting! Only time will tell.

I’m Tanya, and I just can’t do without fitness. About six years ago, I got into Olympic weightlifting and instantly fell in love with it. Weightlifting is like no other sport – it’s just you versus the bar. Driven by my unwavering passion for an active lifestyle, I’ve been eager to share my personal journey and sports enthusiasm with others. As a journalist and photographer, my interests come full circle, adding an extra dimension to the news column that I curate. This way, I keep my readers updated with the latest happenings in the sports world.
