Thai Weightlifting Talent

Duangaksorn Chaidee, born on August 11, 1997, is a well-known Thai weightlifter that competes in the +87 kg category. She first became internationally famous when she won a gold medal at the 2014 Youth Olympics. Although she’s gone through a challenging period from 2018 to 2020 because of a doping suspension, she’s made a strong comeback. Her best performances include a silver medal at the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships and recent strong performances in 2024 events, like the IWF World Cup.

Her career started out with a standout performance at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics, where she won a gold medal in the +63 kg category. This early success set the stage for her future achievements. However, in 2018, she was faced with a huge setback when she was banned from the sport until 2020 because of a positive test for banned substances. This was a very tough period for her, but she came back strong.

Her return to competitive weightlifting has been impressive. In 2021, she won a silver medal in the +87 kg category at the World Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. 2023 and 2024 have also been successful. At the 2024 IWF Cup, she ranked 4th in the +87 kg category with a total lift of 280 kg. She also got a silver medal at the 2023 IWF Grand Prix and a bronze at the 19th Asian Games.

Although her career has had its share of challenges, her determination and resilience have made her one of Thailand’s leading weightlifters.
