In a shocking turn of events, Korean lifter Kim Iseul, who started from Group C, was able to get ahead of the competition in the Snatch lift. She managed to lift 115 kg, which was just enough to surpass Australian lifter Eileen Cikamatana and win the bronze medal for the exercise.
In Clean & Jerk, Iseul’s performance was nowhere near as remarkable, and she got just 140 kg. However, her total of 255 kg was enough to get her sixth place in the competition – a fantastic result given where she started from.
Thus far in her career, Kim Iseul hasn’t made an impact on the international scene and has no major titles to her name. This makes her incredible performance during the IWF World Cup even more remarkable.
