Lesman Paredes Montano Won Silver in Snatch in the Men’s 102 kg Category at the 2024 IWF Weightlifting World Cup

As the IWF World Cup in Thailand draws to a close, we’re all anxiously waiting to discover the athletes who will grace the stage at the upcoming Summer Olympic Games.
With the final days of the competition approaching, the heavyweight categories take center stage. Fortunately, the men’s 102 kg division proved to be nothing short of thrilling.
For Lesman Paredes, representing Bahrain, the competition day started with a terrific performance during the Snatch event.

He managed to lift 186 kg on his second attempt, which was enough to win him the silver medal for the lift and put him in prime position to medal in the overall ranking.
However, once it was time for the Clean & Jerk, Paredes couldn’t deliver as outstanding of performance and got 212 kg and sixth place. Unfortunately, with a total of 398 kg, the Colombian finished in fourth place, just behind the podium spots.
In his career, Lesman’s biggest success has come in the 96 kg category, where he managed to win the World Championships twice and the Asian Championships once.
After switching to the higher-weight class, he has won two editions of the Pan American Championships and is hoping to make an impact during the upcoming Olympic Games.
