Cellucor Super HD Review (2024)

In this Cellucor Super HD review, we’ll be taking a look at this fat burner supplement so you can see if it’s a worthwhile investment.

Overall, as with most fat burners, this supplement is unlikely to make any difference in your ability to lose weight. While the dose of caffeine makes Super HD useful for energy, it doesn’t serve any other real purpose.

Note that in this review, we aren’t talking about Cellucor Super HD Ultimate or Super HD Extreme, which both appear to have been discontinued by Cellucor.

Cellucor is a brand well-known for its iconic line of C4 pre-workouts. However, today we’re going to be looking at their fat burner supplement, Super HD

This supplement combines a “Thermogenic and Sensory Blend” with Caffeine and Green Tea Leaf Extract. None of these components are likely to have any effect on weight loss. While the 160mg of caffeine included here will be beneficial for energy levels, this is the only real benefit this supplement has to offer.

At ~$0.50 per serving, this supplement is much cheaper than many other fat burners out there. However, this doesn’t change the fact that Super HD is virtually useless for weight loss.

Who and What is Cellucor Super HD For?

So, does Super HD work?

Cellucor’s Super HD is marketed as a fat burner, meaning it’s meant to assist people with weight loss. However, like virtually all weight loss supplements out there, Super HD will be almost entirely useless for this purpose.

The only effective active ingredient included here is caffeine, which will be undeniably useful for energy. As a result, we can only recommend the use of Super HD as a quick and easy way to get a boost of energy. However, with there being many other effective, high-stim pre-workout supplements available, this supplement is very difficult to recommend.

many capsules on the table

Understand that if you’re looking to lose weight, you shouldn’t be looking for any “magic pill". While there are effective weight loss drugs out there, they should be saved as an intervention if diet and exercise fail. Surgical interventions may also be an effective last resort for some people.

However, the way we recommend achieving your goals is through consistent diet and exercise. By eating in a consistent caloric deficit, you will lose weight eventually.

Below we’ll be doing a deep dive into Super HD’s formula so you can get a better idea of what to expect from this supplement, and why we don’t believe it’s worth your money.

1. Overall Ingredients breakdown:

The 3 main components included in this supplement are caffeine, a “thermogenic & sensory blend,” as well as green tea leaf extract. We’ll be looking at each of these in more depth below.

• Caffeine

First, and most importantly, is caffeine. Each serving of Super HD contains 160mg of caffeine, which will provide a solid hit of stimulation for most people. Caffeine is typically included in fat burners for energy support, as well as how it may boost metabolic rate. However, it’s unlikely it will have a large effect on weight loss.

Although caffeine is unlikely to have a major effect on weight loss, it’s still easily the most useful ingredient included in Super HD’s formula. Although, you will likely get just as much, if not more, benefit from an effectively dosed pre-workout supplement.

• Thermogenic & Sensory Blend

Next, Super HD also includes a “Thermogenic & Sensory Blend” which includes 193mg total of 7 different ingredients. The majority of these are herbal ingredients that are unlikely to have any real effect – especially when they’re dosed so low. The 2 main ingredients of interest here are L-Tyrosine and Capsaicin.

First, Tyrosine is an amino acid with several different purported benefits. However, your body likely gets enough Tyrosine naturally without supplementation being necessary if you eat enough protein. While L-Tyrosine is thought to help with weight loss and appetite suppression, this is not well established.

Next, Capsaicin is another common ingredient found in fat burners. Capsaicin has been shown to help with limiting energy intake and therefore may be beneficial for weight loss.

Overall, it doesn’t appear any of the other 5 ingredients included in this blend will have any real effect either. Especially considering how low it’s dosed, this blend appears to be completely useless.

• Green Tea Leaf Extract

Finally, this supplement also includes some Green Tea Leaf Extract. This ingredient is likely included here because of its moderate effect on metabolic rate – similar to caffeine. However, just like caffeine, it doesn’t appear this will translate into any meaningful benefit for weight loss.

2. Taste/Flavor:

Because Cellucor is a capsule-based supplement, it does not have any real flavor to speak of. It’s worth noting here that each serving is only a single capsule, which will be ideal for people who struggle with swallowing pills.

3. Nutrition Label Transparency:

It’s difficult to praise the transparency of a supplement that makes multiple misleading claims about its fat-burning properties when it’s unlikely to have any real effect on weight loss. It’s also worth noting this supplement doesn’t have any recognized third-party certifications.

4. Value for Money:

This supplement will cost about ~$0.50 per serving, which is very cheap compared to most fat burners on the market. However, because it’s unlikely to help much with weight loss, there are likely many better supplements you could invest in. Consider trying a high-quality protein powder or pre-workout supplement instead!

How Do You Use Cellucor Super HD?

Cellucor recommends taking 2-3 servings of this supplement per day alongside water. They recommend 1 capsule of Super HD in the morning, and another in the afternoon. They say once tolerance is assessed, a second capsule can be taken in the morning for 3 total.

While this may be suitable for some, this is a total of 480mg of caffeine, which exceeds the recommended daily amount for adults. Keep in mind that with excessive use of Cellucor Super HD, side effects may occur like insomnia and anxiety.

Overall, especially if you’re just taking this supplement for caffeine, you’re probably better off just buying caffeine tablets or investing in a high-quality pre-workout supplement instead. Because none of the “fat-burning” ingredients will provide significant benefit, it is hard to recommend this supplement for weight loss purposes.

Below is a table to help you understand the level of stimulation you’ll be getting from the recommended 1-3 servings of this supplement.

# of ServingsAmount of CaffeineStimulation
1160mg- Moderate stimulation for most people
- Equivalent to ~2 cups of coffee
2320mg- Strong stimulation for most people
- Equivalent to ~3-4 cups of coffee
3480mg- Only suitable for people with high caffeine tolerances
- Higher than the recommended daily dose of caffeine
- Equivalent to 5-6 cups of coffee

Cellucor Super HD Alternatives

Below we’ll be looking at a few other popular fat burner supplements on the market from Transparent Labs and Huge Supplements. As you’ll see, like Super HD, these fat burners are unlikely to provide any real benefit to weight loss. Let’s get into it!Cellucor

1. Super HD vs Transparent Labs Recomp

Transparent Labs Recomp

Transparent Labs Recomp

First is Transparent Labs Recomp, which contains a fairly similar formula to Super HD.

This supplement contains 125mg of caffeine, which is slightly less than Cellucor. Its main active ingredients also include Capsaicin and Green Tea Leaf Extract. This supplement also contains L-Theanine, which appears to be beneficial for reducing cortisol and mitigating the negative side effects of caffeine.

Overall, this supplement is unlikely to have any significant effect on weight loss, similar to Super HD. It’s also significantly more expensive, costing nearly twice as much as Cellucor at ~$0.92 per serving.

2. Cellucor Super HD vs HUGE Eliminate

HUGE Eliminate

HUGE Eliminate
  • Serving Size: 4 capsules
  • Servings per Container: 30
  • Price per Serving: $1.67
  • Recommended By AthletesMax Taylor, Zack Jennings

Next is Huge’s Eliminate supplement, which also combines many of the same active ingredients as the other 2 supplements we’ve covered above.

This is easily the strongest supplement we’ve covered so far, containing 250mg of caffeine and 100mg of di-caffeine malate. You can also expect green tea extract and capsaicin. Other ingredients here include green coffee bean extract and grains of paradise, which hav enot been shown to be effective for weight loss.

While this would be a good supplement if you want a heavy hit of stimulation, like the other 2 fat burners we’ve looked at, it probably won’t help with weight loss. This is also the most expensive supplement we’ve covered by far at ~$1.67 per serving.

FAQ

What is Cellucor Super HD Good For?

None of Cellucor Super HD’s ingredients are likely to have any meaningful effect on weight loss, as a result, we don’t consider this supplement to be effective as a “fat burner.” However, each serving does contain a solid dose of caffeine at 160mg per capsule.

As a result, this supplement may be effective if you just want an easy way to get caffeine. However, you’d likely be better off just drinking coffee or taking caffeine pills if you want caffeine. Or using a high-quality pre-workout supplement because of the added benefit of genuinely effective active ingredients like Creatine and Beta-Alanine.

How Much Caffeine is in Super HD?

Each serving of Super HD contains 160mg of caffeine. For reference, this is slightly less caffeine than 2 cups of coffee. As a result, this supplement will be effective at providing a solid hit of stimulation to most people. It’s just unlikely to be very beneficial for weight loss.

Are There Any Proven Cellucor Super HD Weight Loss Results?

Overall, it’s unlikely that Super HD has helped anyone achieve meaningful weight loss results without also changing their diet and exercise. While it may help with providing energy while dieting, this will be the only real benefit of this supplement.

Conclusion

Just like pretty much all fat burner supplements out there, Cellucor Super HD will not provide any meaningful benefits for weight loss. The main feature of this supplement is its 160mg dose of caffeine, which will likely provide a genuine boost to your energy levels.

However, if you’re after energy, just buy coffee or caffeine, or a high-quality pre-workout supplement. This way you’ll get a solid dose of caffeine, as well as the performance benefits of scientifically-proven active ingredients like creatine and Beta-Alanine. If you’re interested in a great pre-workout supplement, consider Bulk from Transparent Labs, or Pre-Kaged from Kaged.
