Weightlifting Returns to the Olympic Stage for Los Angeles 2028

After a recommendation, the International Olympic Committee has decided to include weightlifting in the program of the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Prior to this, only discussions were held on this matter. Today, on October 16, 2023, this decision was finally approved, and gained legal force during a voting session in India.

Paris will host the Games in 2024, Los Angeles in 2028 and Brisbane in 2032

This marks another significant step in the new policy of the International Weightlifting Federation. It’s worth noting that the leadership of the federation has recently changed, and their goal is to promote the sport on the international stage. Progress has also been made in the field of anti-doping reforms, which were introduced by the new leadership, and executive council of the IWF.
