IWF Weightlifting World Cup – Women’s 64 kg Recap

Day 6 of the IWF World Cup demonstrated athletes’ desire to win this competition and show their ultimate physical condition.

Some of them succeeded in shining out during the competition by improving their personal bests, while others failed to push their limits.

  • 🥇RIM Un Sim (PRK) – 114-144-258
  • 🥈RI Suk (PRK) – 108-140-248 
  • 🥉 SAMULIAK Svitlana (UKR) – 101-120-221

The gold medalist in the 64-kg weight division became Rim Un Sim who won all gold medals in the category with a Snatch at 114 kg at the third lift, Clean & Jerk at 144 kg on the second attempt, and 258 kg in total.

The second spot came to her teammate Ri Suk who performed 248 kg in total that is 10 kilos behind RIM, 108 kg in Snatch at the first attempt, and 140 kg in Clean & Jerk at the first lift as well. 

Svitlana SAMULIAK from Ukraine occupied the third position with the following results: 101 kg in Snatch at the last lift, 120 kg in Clean & Jerk at the second attempt, and a total of 221 kg.

Overall, the category’s leaders showed powerful performance. PRK athletes were at the leading positions today by occupying the first and second places. 

Top Athletes’ Review

The 64-kg weight category winner Rim Un Sim lifted 114 kg in Snatch, and 144 kg in Clean & Jerk, resulting in 258 kg in total. Today she improved her total result by 7 kilos compared to her performance at the 2019 World Championships in Pattaya.

What about the silver medalist Ri Suk, she finished with 108 kg in Snatch, and 140 kg in Clean & Jerk, and 248 kg overall. She didn’t improve her results since Grand Prix II in Qatar where she set a World Record in Clean & Jerk of 146 kg.

Bronze moved to SAMULIAK Svitlana from Ukraine. She did 101 kg in Snatch, 120 kg in Clean & Jerk, and 221 kg in total. Despite the great weight gap behind the second place, she managed to show her personal best in both exercises.

Snatch results:

Having analyzed the Snatch performance, we can claim that five female lifters had two attempts with red lights. While two athletes performed all three lifts successfully.

Clean & Jerk results:

The performances in the Clean & Jerk exercise were much better: only two lifters had two red lights during their lifts, while the rest had just one failed attempt. The Top 3 athletes showed the following weights:

  • 🥇RIM Un Sim (PRK) – 144 kg
  • 🥈RI Suk (PRK) – 140 kg
  • 🥉SAMULIAK Svitlana (UKR) – 120 kg
