What’s New This Year?
Not everything is as expected this year at Rogue. There are some new additions to the fitness programming that are sure to excite spectators and athletes alike.
New equipment:
Monkey Bars: Most well known for their appearance at the 2013 fitness Games in the iconic “Killer Kage” workout.
The Turtle (Bag): This is almost definitely a brand new ‘bag’ Rogue has come up with for this event. It falls in the long line of Rogue created objects to be named after animals (the Worm, the Pig, the Snail, the Slug, the Alpaca, etc.).
Three Days, 10 Scored Events
The most days of competition Rogue has had in the past is three. The most scored events Rogue had ever had before is eight. This year, competitors saw a 25-percent increase in the number of competition days and a 20-percent increase in the total number of opportunities athletes have to earn points.
Strongman Path to Victory
The 2022 Rogue Strongman Invitational was set to take place from Oct. 28-29 in Round Rock, Texas, as a part of the four-day Rogue Invitational, which featured both a strongman and fitness competition.
Ten of the world’s top strongmen were vying for the largest prize purse in the sport by battling across six events over those two days of competition.
Two years after retiring from the sport of strongman to pursue a boxing career, Hafthor “The Mountain” Björnsson traveled to the 2022 Rogue Invitational in Austin, TX, to break his own Weight Over Bar World Record.
