Day 2 of the Arnold Classic, held in Columbus, Ohio, is the one that will determine the winners of the Strongman and Strongwoman contests as the final events unfold.

After Day 1, it was Hafthor Bjornosson on the men’s side and Lucy Underdown on the women’s side who were in the lead. However, Thor and last year’s winner Mitchell Hooper were tied for points, and Underdown was leading by just 3. So, it’s safe to say that nothing was determined before the start of the second day.

Arnold Classic: Day 2 Recap

Unlike the first day, where the men’s and women’s events were the same, here, we’re going to have slight differences in the challenges the athletes have to face.

Webster Stones

Mitchell Hooper claimed at the end of Day 1 that day two would be his strongest performance yet. And we can safely say that he lived up to that statement, seeing as he finished first in the Webster Stones challenge, massively outsourcing the competition.

Thor’s comeback also continued to be impressive, as he scored second-place overall. The top five for this event was as follows:

  1. Mitchell Hooper – 12.6 meters
  2. Hafthór Björnsson – 10.72 meters
  3. Evan Singleton – 10.62 meters
  4. Mateusz Kieliszkowski – 9.73 meters
  5. Tom Stoltman – 9.4 meters

Apollon’s Wheels

On the Apollon’s Wheels challenge, Hooper’s dominance only continued to grow as the Canadian was the only one who managed five reps and finished in first place. Unfortunately, Thor was unable to keep up and finished fourth, managing just one rep. The overall top five was as follows:

  1. Mitchell Hooper – 5 reps
  2. Mateusz Kieliszkowski – 4 reps (T-second)
  3. Tom Stoltman – 4 reps (T-second)
  4. Hafthór Björnsson – 1 rep (T-fourth)
  5. Bobby Thompson – 1 rep (T-fourth)

Stones of Strength

The final challenge that would determine the podium for this year’s Arnold Strongmen was the Stones of Strength, where, once again, Mitchell Hooper was head and shoulders above everyone else. As promised by the Canadian, the second day of the competition was the best one for him as he had a clean sweep of all first places for all three events. Unfortunately, Thor’s comeback competition ended with a disappointment as Bjornsson was not able to complete a lift for this challenge, and the top five formed like this:

  1. Mitchell Hooper — Two in 19.15 seconds reps
  2. Mateusz Kieliszkowski — Five in 158.36 seconds
  3. Tom Stoltman — Two in 25.53 seconds
  4. Bobby Thompson — One in 101.12 seconds
  5. Oleksii Novikov — One in 17.65 seconds
