Oleksii Novikov Is Out of The 2024 World’s Strongest Man

The champion from 2020 announced that he won’t be competing in this year’s edition of World’s Strongest Man with a post on the tournament’s official page yesterday. Oleksii Novikov competed at the 2024’s Europe Strongest Man earlier this month and won third place.
Unfortunately, he got a bicep injury, but there were no reports about how serious the issue was.
Now we know that it might be a more serious issue than it first appeared, as it’s sidelining one of the biggest stars of Strongmen just weeks before the start of the 2024 World’s Strongest Man.

The Ukranian is not the only athlete missing the competition. The champion from 2019, Marins Licis, and two-time runner-up Mateusz Kieliszkowski are also out of the race for the title this year due to injuries.
Kieliszkowski is still recovering from an Achilles tendon injury that he got while training for the Europeans, while Licis withdrew after finishing eight at the 2024 Arnold Classic earlier this year.
Currently, the 2024 edition of the World’s Strongest Man has three vacant spots with just under two weeks to go.
So far, the athlete roaster that will compete from the 1st til the 5th of May consists of the following names:
