The frame is well-built from heavy-duty steel and weighs in on the heavier side at 43 pounds. The Rogue Fitness logo is in white on the top of the bar on both sides.

    Positives:

    • The angled inside handles allow you to perform close grip bar movements with less stress placed on the wrist joints

    • The handles are well-spaced to give enough grip room for athletes with larger hands

    • The 14" loadable sleeve length provides plenty of room for the addition of weight plates

    • The bar is designed and manufactured in the USA

    Could be better:

    • The 43-pound frame weight may be too heavy for some smaller gym users

    • Sleeve collars are available at an additional cost

Rogue MG-3 Multi Grip Bar: Features & Highlights

    Construction Quality and Dimensions

Rogue always makes sure their products are built to last, with each bar undergoing a rigorous testing process before being sold to the customer. Their MG-3 bar is no different, constructed from commercial-grade steel and finished with a protective black powder coating throughout. The frame is on the heavier side at 43 pounds but this is reflected well in the overall steel and weld quality.

The overall bar length measures 82" allowing it to be racked on any standard power rack. The frame is 41" long, with 14" of loadable sleeve length on both sides that are designed to be compatible with both standard and Olympic-sized weight plates. Rogue offers compatible sleeve collars at an extra cost.

    Handle Positions

The MG-3 bar features one set of interior angled handles spaced 10" apart and two sets of vertical handles spaced 20" and 28.5" apart. This allows you to switch from close-grip angled bar movements that reduce the stress on your wrist to wider straight grip movements that target the smaller muscle groups in pressing and rowing movements that are usually performed using a traditional barbell.

Each handle has a 1.25" diameter that should provide a comfortable grip for most hand sizes and shapes. To change the angle of the interior handles, turn the bar 180 degrees for some ‘elbows in’ chest and tricep movements.

    Knurling Pattern

Rogue has used its standard knurling pattern on each of the handles which is the same one used on their popular Ohio barbell. Whilst it tends to be more aggressive compared to other brands, it's not too harsh on your skin with normal bar use.

No center knurl or knurling marks are present on any of the handles. This can sometimes help with hand placement, but shouldn't be an issue when using a smaller multi-grip bar.

    Value for Money

As with most Rogue products, they come at a higher price point compared to the budget brands. With the higher price, you get a product that's been tested at the highest level and built to last.
