This year's event featured some of the biggest names in CrossFit and Strongman, including defending champion Justin Medeiros and past attendees Chandler Smith and Jeffrey Adler. With a prize purse of over $1 million up for grabs, this year's Invitational is sure to be a heated competition.
In addition to the prize money, Rogue Fitness has also provided hotel accommodation and airfare for all competitors, making it one of the most generous events in terms of athlete support.

Justin Medeiros is the new dominant athlete in CrossFit. He cemented his second win at an invitational with a 15 point margin, topping it all by 735 points to capture this title for himself and show us what's coming soon enough!
The field opened up considerably when six-time Games champion Tia Clair Toomey did not compete at the Rogue Invitational this year. However, her absence was compensated for by Laura Horvath who placed first overall in her first win after dominating two events!
What’s New This Year?
Not everything is as expected this year at Rogue. There are some new additions to the CrossFit programming that are sure to excite spectators and athletes alike.
- Monkey Bars: Most well known for their appearance at the 2013 CrossFit Games in the iconic “Killer Kage” workout.
- The Turtle (Bag): This is almost definitely a brand new ‘bag’ Rogue has come up with for this event. It falls in the long line of Rogue created objects to be named after animals (the Worm, the Pig, the Snail, the Slug, the Alpaca, etc.).
Three Days, 10 Scored Events
The most days of competition Rogue has had in the past is three. The most scored events Rogue had ever had before is eight. This year, competitors saw a 25-percent increase in the number of competition days and a 20-percent increase in the total number of opportunities athletes have to earn points.
Strongman Path to Victory
The 2022 Rogue Strongman Invitational was set to take place from Oct. 28-29 in Round Rock, Texas, as a part of the four-day Rogue Invitational, which featured both a strongman and CrossFit competition.
Ten of the world’s top strongmen were vying for the largest prize purse in the sport by battling across six events over those two days of competition.
Two years after retiring from the sport of strongman to pursue a boxing career, Hafthor “The Mountain” Björnsson traveled to the 2022 Rogue Invitational in Austin, TX, to break his own Weight Over Bar World Record.
Thor broke the record by one inch, tossing the 25.4-kilogram (56-pound) weight 23 feet and three inches over the bar.
