The first day of the CrossFit Games is over. Here's what happened

The 2022 CrossFit Games are just getting started and already there's drama. The schedule originally had four events for individual athletes, but only three took place on Day One due to rain.

Event 1

The first event of the competition included 75 toes-to-bar to start, followed by a five-mile road/off-road bike ride, then 75 chest-to-bar pull-ups and another five-mile ride.

Toomey was the favourite going into this event, but it wasn't easy for her to win. American Haley Adams made history as well with a first career CrossFit Games victory event!

According to CrossFit, Spencer Panchik, Lazar Dukic, Danielle Brandon, and Elena Carratala Sanahuja missed laps. Their slowest lap time was added to their recorded time as a way to recalculate their final scores.

Seungyeon Choi logged an extra lap. CrossFit review the footage and recorded the accurate time based on the work she was meant to put in.

Event 3

The second event was cancelled due poor weather conditions which resulted into moving it over Thursday Aug 4 and skipped right to Event Three.

"Skill Speed Medley" introduced a brand-new movement to the competition stage: The double under crossover. This was an unexpected move which caught everyone off guard and unprepared for its execution on stage! Not a single woman in the final five was able to complete the 24 double-under crossovers, and the final five men struggled to string them together — only three completed the full set.

The biggest shocker at this year's Games event was that Tia-Clair Toomey didn't make it past the first round, finishing her in 23rd place. This is by far one of worst performances since 2015 and she now sits ninth overall.

Event 4

This is a remix of Elizabeth — Elizabeth Elevated — swapped thrusters for squat cleans and ring dips for parallel dips with parallel bar traverses.

During each round the dips must be split into 3 unbroken sets, with each set beginning with a traverse of the parallel bars. Meaning, the first round will be a traverse then 7 dips, a second traverse then 7 dips, and a third traverse then 7 dips, for a total of 21 reps. The round of 15 will be broken into 3 sets of 5 dips, while the rounds of 9 will be broken into 3 sets of 3 dips.
